  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil or butter For cooking the steak.
  • 2 cups Beef broth Can substitute with chicken or vegetable broth.
  • 2 tablespoons Flour For thickening the gravy.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 medium Onion Chopped, optional for gravy.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced, optional for gravy.
  • 4 servings Mashed potatoes For serving.
  • 4 servings Favorite vegetable For serving.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Steak

  • Season the steak with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the steak to the skillet and cook to your desired doneness, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest.

Making the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, lower the heat and add chopped onions and garlic, if using. Sauté until softened.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions, stirring to form a roux.
  • Gradually add beef broth, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens.

Serving

  • Slice the steak and serve with the homemade gravy, mashed potatoes, and your favorite vegetable.

Notes

Let the steak rest after cooking for better juices. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness. Add herbs for additional flavor. Variations include using different cuts of steak or adding mushrooms to the gravy.
