Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 cup festive sprinkles Experiment with different types of sprinkles to match your holiday theme.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until creamy.
  • Add the vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk, mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Fold in the festive sprinkles.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be served warm or at room temperature and pair wonderfully with a glass of milk or hot cocoa. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
