Ingredients
  

Pasta and Broccoli

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen can be used.

Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with other cheese types.

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder Optional.
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder Optional.

Preparation

  • Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Add the broccoli florets during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.

Cooking Cheese Sauce

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste.

Combine

  • Combine the cooked macaroni and broccoli with the cheese sauce. Stir to coat everything evenly.

Notes
