  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups tomato soup
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped Adds flavor to the soup.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for topping (optional) Use as a garnish when serving.

Instructions

Dough Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

Soup Preparation

  • Meanwhile, heat the tomato soup in a saucepan, adding fresh basil, salt, and pepper.

Assembly

  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface until thin. Cut into circles (about 3 inches in diameter).
  • Place a small spoonful of tomato soup filling in the center of each dough circle.
  • Fold the dough over to form a pocket and pinch the edges to seal.

Cooking

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and gently drop in the dumplings.
  • Boil for about 5-7 minutes until they float to the surface.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Roll the dough thin for a better texture. Avoid overfilling the dumplings to prevent them from bursting while boiling. Experiment with different herbs, like thyme or oregano, for added flavor.
