  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk

Milk Mixture

  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Topping

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • Fresh fruit or whipped cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale; then add vanilla.
  • Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture. Pour into the prepared pan.

Baking

  • Bake for about 30 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool.

Soaking

  • Once cooled, poke holes all over the cake using a fork.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the three types of milk. Pour this mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Serving

  • To serve, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form, then spread over the top of the cake.
  • Garnish with fresh fruit or additional whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Ensure your cake is completely cooled before soaking it in the milk mixture for better texture. For additional flavor, consider adding a splash of rum or almond extract to the milk mixture. Experiment with different fruits for topping, such as strawberries, mangoes, or blueberries.
