Filling Ingredients

  • 1 head Napa cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb Ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)
  • 1 cup Cooked rice or quinoa
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Carrots, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and bell pepper until softened.
  • In a bowl, combine the cooked ground meat, sautéed vegetables, cooked rice, salt, and pepper.
  • Carefully separate the Napa cabbage leaves. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in each leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.

Cooking

  • Pour half of the marinara sauce into a baking dish. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish. Top with the remaining marinara sauce.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, mix some herbs like parsley or dill into the filling. Feel free to get creative with fillings! You can add ingredients like mushrooms, zucchini, or even cheese to the meat mixture for a twist on the traditional recipe.
