Main ingredients

  • 4 large large potatoes Peeled and cut into stick shapes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Choose your favorite cheese
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 medium egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For coating
  • as needed cups Oil for frying Ensure oil is hot enough before frying

Preparation

  • Peel and cut the potatoes into stick shapes.
  • Boil the potato sticks in salted water for about 5 minutes until slightly tender.
  • Drain and let cool.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Dip each potato stick into the flour mixture, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Insert a piece of cheese into the center of each stick.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the sticks until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

These Potato Cheese Sticks are best enjoyed fresh and hot. Serve them with a side of marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauce. For extra flavor, add your favorite herbs or spices to the breadcrumb coating. If storing leftovers, cool completely and keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes.
