Ingredients
  

Meatball Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice Brown rice can be used; adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika For extra flavor, consider adding chopped herbs like parsley or basil.

Sauce

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce Can substitute with barbecue sauce or marinara sauce.
  • 1 cup water

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, uncooked rice, chopped onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.

Cooking

  • In a baking dish, combine the tomato sauce and water.
  • Place the meatballs in the sauce and cover the dish with foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, until the meatballs are cooked through and the rice is tender.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Leftovers taste even better the next day. To store, allow meatballs to cool, then place in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Make sure to cover the baking dish tightly with foil while baking to keep the meatballs moist.
