  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces Boneless and skinless is recommended.
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika Can substitute with cayenne for heat.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can substitute with regular milk.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use panko for extra crunch.
  • as needed Oil for frying Vegetable or canola oil works well.
  • various Dipping sauces (honey mustard, ranch, BBQ, etc.) Choose your favorites.

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Dip chicken pieces in buttermilk.
  • Coat the chicken pieces with the flour mixture, then with the breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve popcorn chicken warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate chicken pieces in buttermilk and spices for a few hours before cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes to restore crispiness.
