Pickling Ingredients

  • 1 cup garlic cloves Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup distilled white vinegar Can experiment with different types of vinegar.
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Adjust to taste, or use honey for a sweeter version.
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns Add more spices like red pepper flakes if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

Preparation

  • Peel the garlic cloves and set aside.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  • Add the garlic cloves, peppercorns, and mustard seeds to the boiling mixture.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.

Jar and Refrigerate

  • Transfer the mixture to a clean jar and seal tightly.
  • Refrigerate for at least 24 hours before using.

Notes

Store your pickled garlic in the refrigerator in a sealed jar for up to a month. Check for signs of spoilage before use. Can be enjoyed on sandwiches, pizzas, salads, or added to pasta dishes for extra flavor.
