  • 1 block extra-firm tofu Press well to remove excess moisture.
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup Use maple syrup for a vegan option.
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Or panko for a crunchier texture.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Oil for frying Use your preferred frying oil.

Preparation

  • Press the tofu to remove excess water and cut it into finger-sized strips.
  • In a bowl, mix the honey (or maple syrup), Dijon mustard, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Dip each tofu strip into the honey mustard mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the tofu tenders for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve hot with more honey mustard for dipping. If storing leftovers, let tenders cool completely before placing them in an airtight container. They can be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes to maintain crispiness.
