Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup sugar For a richer flavor, try using brown sugar.
  • ½ cup vegetable oil Can substitute with melted coconut oil.
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

This cake is delicious on its own, but can be enhanced with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature; refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
